exterminating supplies
Consumers are always looking for the next best DIY project to tackle and pest control is not safe from these weekend warriors, but they want the real stuff. Exterminating supplies or pest control supplies are easy enough to find online at the many DIY pest control products websites. Sites like EPestSupply or pestproducts.com have what you are looking for, so long as it is not a restricted use product. All states have there own laws and it is best to check to make sure it is ok to apply pesticides without a license, but in most cases if it is not restricted use, then you are ok. One word of caution is just that, use caution. These chemicals are dangerous and need to be applied per the label. So use your head and go to battle with what ever pest is pestering you.

Where to buy exterminating and pest control supplies.
Exterminating supplies are sold by distributors, over the counter pest control supply companies, or do it yourself pest control supply websites. Not everyone can buy exterminating chemicals as they may be what they call, restricted use products. You must have a license to buy these chemicals. Other than that, most insect baits, mouse traps, and bug spray chemicals are able to be bought by the public. Sometimes the companies selling the exterminating products, as policy, will require a license, and others do not. I know in the area I live there is a company that is an exterminating company, but they also sell to the public. Distributors such as Lesco (John Deere) , Residex, and Univar will require a license as they will not sell to the public. Then there are your DIY websites like epestsupply, pestcontrolamerica, and diypcs are online websites where you can shop. Another place to consider is your local home improvement store. They will sell your basic roach control supplies or mouse control supplies.

Pest Control
The idea behind pest control is just that. Control. When faced with an infestation, the best approach to take is an integrated one, analysing the situation and incorporating a number of measure to try to eliminate the problem or at least to get control of it. Some situations, like bed bugs, may just be able to be controlled, depending on the situation and the willingness of the client to do their part. One thing I find and many of my colleagues express dismay in is the customer who expects you to come in with a magic wand and with one service get rid of their problem with no follow up and no cooperation on their part. Sometimes this can be done, but it's a rare case when you can walk in and get complete control in one visit. This is one of the reasons it's called pest control and not pest elimination, although there are some companies that advertise this. Perception is key.

Is bigger any better when choosing an exterminator?
Are the major league players like Terminix or Orkin any better than your neighborhood pest control company? Not really in many cases. A one man operation often times will provide a better service because he values your business more than the bigger company. You can build a better relationship with a one man operation because you will see the same technician each time which might not be the case with a large corporate company. Large corporations might have a better response time but they might also be more expensive and require a more rigid contract basis. Many small companies won't require you to sign a contract and are a little less expensive. Bigger isn't always better in many cases and I think the pest control industry is a perfect example of this. You are paying extra for the big guy's fleet of trucks, their gas, their overhead, their advertising, their chemical cost. The small guy usually gets business by word of mouth, has one truck on the road and services a smaller and tighter territory. As always you should check with your local Better Business Bureau and ask your neighbors who they use when choosing a pest control company, but I'd take a close look at your neighborhood guy the next time you are in the market.

PROVOKE MOUSE ATTRACTANT

Bell lab's new product provoke is the hottest thing since sliced bread when it comes to catching mice! It was formulated to be the most attractive food source for mice and the reports are it's working like a charm. You don't have to be afraid to bait your snap traps with provoke in sensitive areas because it is hyper-allergenic. Peanut butter allergies? Forget about it! Provoke comes in a easy to use squeeze bottle, just put a dab of it on your snap traps, gluetraps or tin cats!

PRODUCTS
If you do decide to do it yourself the best places to look for product would be your neighborhood Home Depot or Lowes or other hardware department store. Some neighborhood pest control companies have "over the counter" supplies that they will sell and the internet is full of do it yourself websites that sell do it yourself products. Here is a brief overview of products to look and ask for. For German roaches you want to use gel baits and bait stations, combat and maxforce are both good products. another product for roaches is called gentrol IGR (insect growth regulator) which inhibits the roaches ability to reproduce. For ants you want to use gel baits and bait stations, again, Maxforce is a great company. For bees you want to use dust (if you are going to try to tackle them by yourself) Please read the disclaimer. Mice and Rats of course you can use the old stand by of snap traps glue traps and baits. Any questions please post them in the comments section.
